Grit guide.

Three grits, one installed, one included as a spare, one available as a refill. Here is what each one is for.

01

Start on the installed grit

Every board ships with 120 grit fitted. Start there. It is the middle of the range for a reason, coarse enough to file at a reasonable pace without being aggressive.

02

Switch down if 120 feels like too much

If a dog seems reluctant to put weight on the board once nails are actually making contact, the 80 grit spare in the box is a softer starting point. Swap the sheet, not the board.

03

Move to 220 once they are confident

For a dog already comfortable scratching on 120, a 220 grit refill sheet files more gradually. Not a requirement, just an option once the behavior itself is well established.

The three grits

80 GRIT

Spare, included in the box

A softer starting point if 120 feels too aggressive at first.

120 GRIT

Installed on every board

The one most dogs run day to day.

220 GRIT

Refill only

For a dog already confident on 120 who does not need as much bite.

Replacement sheets ship three to a pack, one grit per pack, on therefills page.
